Veign's Blog is Moving

Blogger has decided to shut down the FTP publishing service they provided. This allowed Veign to use the blogger service but house the blog assets on my server. This is no more.

This is the kick I needed to move me to WordPress. I use WordPress for all my clients but never had the energy to move Veign. Keeping the same URLs for over 2500 posts seemed like a daunting task.

This blog will stay live but no new posts will come until the move is completed. I am hoping to be back up and running by next weekend. The template will look different – this is something that will be fixed in time.

Stay Tuned as WordPress will give me the ability to do more.

Any other free iPhone Apps I should look at?

Listhings places sticky notes in your browser

Interesting but not sure how useful it would be – have to keep a browser window open. Personally I think using Note-It makes more sense where the notes can be on top of all open applications is much more useful.

Google Voice Frees Your Voicemail, and Your Number

Until yesterday, signing up for a Google Voice account required you to pick a new phone number — not a pleasant option for those who have kept the same digits for years. Now Google has enabled users to keep their existing phone numbers and get (most of) the features Google Voice offers, including Google’s excellent voicemail service.

I have been using Google Voice for a couple of months now and now its powerful but I just haven’t switched to the phone number yet. Still trying to decide exactly what to use my Google Voice number for. Veign’s business number?

Plarker on DonationCoder.com

DonationCoder has taken steps to allow its members the ability to highlight their Plarker maps. Each member can add their Plarker username to their profile, which provides a quick link to their Plarker map through an icon under their member username on the forum.

This a big step for Plarker as DonationCoder is a very popular tech forum. This forum is unlike most. The civility for an online forum is amazing at DC. Stop by and let them know that Veign recommended it.

Veign Giveaway: 1 free license of Expression Web 3

Give away is now closed – the winner has been selected (Jeff)

Whether you’re an expert or just getting started, building standards-based Web sites is faster and easier with Microsoft® Expression® Web 3. Expression Web contains flexible support for a wide range of essential technologies: PHP, HTML/XHTML, XML/XSLT, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET and ASP.NET AJAX, Silverlight, Flash, Photoshop files, and video/audio for webcasting.

This is a great opportunity to get a free license for an up-coming-player in the web design application market. EW is hot the heals of Dreamweaver and is already converting many users. I have been using and testing EW since the first releases and each one moves it closer to a serious player in the web design game – still needs better support for PHP for my liking but I’m sure that’s coming.

Just download the trial to check it out.

To enter leave a comment that either contains your email address or a link to your profile which contains your email address and say something that lets me know you want it. Thats it. Winner will be choosen at random in 24 hours.
