Software I reviewed today for various reasons

Aptana: The Aptana IDE is a free, open-source, cross-platform, JavaScript-focused development environment for building Ajax applications. It features code assist on JavaScript, HTML, and CSS languages, FTP/SFTP support and a JavaScript debugger to troubleshoot your code.

GIMP: GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.

  • This Aptana looks nice. I watched the main video and what made me very interested is that I have been trying to move to Eclipse as my use-for-everything development environment. Then when I saw that they were integrating with FireBug and the popular web widget toolkits I am hooked enough to give it a try and spend some time with it. I'm very interested to know what you think of it if you spend some time with it on a real project.

  • Eclipse IDE is something I need to spend some more time with. The brief hours I looked at I liked it but since I had projects going I never really had the time to move.
