OT: What really happened in the McDonald's Scalding Coffee Case

She was hospitalized for eight days, during which time she underwent skin grafting. Liebeck, who also underwent debridement treatments, sought to settle her claim for $20,000, but McDonald's refused.

After reading this I have a totally different opinion about that court case. At first I thought this was someone just trying to make a dime. When, in fact, it was a 79 year old woman only looking for McDonalds to pay for her medical expenses, nothing more. When McDonalds refused, she then took legal action.
