Top 10 tools for learning more about your computer.

1. Autoruns: The most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and shows you the entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other Registry keys.

3. Application Monitor: A very small API monitor that allows the user to monitor the APIs called by the given application.

  • Ethereal has been superseded by Wireshark. This is a continuation of the same program by the same author, but due to trademark disputes with his former employer, he had to rename the application and continue development elsewhere. Given that Ethereal development has ceased and there are a number of vulnerabilities in the last version(s), I strongly recommend switching over to the latest version of Wireshark instead. You can download it from here:
