Choosing an open source CMS

Choosing an open source CMS: "There are a lot of CMS choices -- Drupal, Mambo, Bricolage, WordPress, and Plone are some of the most recognizable names. While they all perform the same basic functions, you have to pick only one. How do you do it?"

  • Wow, great find, Veign. And those key questions:

    — How is it licensed?
    — What's the language/environment?
    — How long has it been around?
    — Is it actively developed?
    — Who's using it?
    — Is there support?

are good ones to ask for some software, too.

  • the most important question for me is 'Is it actively developed'. Web technology is moving too fast to not choose a solution which is actively developed.
