Search engine roundup

Google:
Not much to say about Google that isn't already known by everyone. This is my goto search engine for searching for things, defining words (using define:[word]), searching for images, and now looking at off-beat videos at Google Video

Yahoo:
I have no idea why I use this still but I do. Mainly I use it to make sure my sites and my clients sites are listed. I find myself almost never using Yahoo for just doing a basic search.

MSN:
Up and coming? Not sure I can say that but I find it is starting to be a pretty good search engine - sometimes more relevant results. I know MS is working hard on this so keep and eye out.

Myriad:
Useful? Maybe. Interesting? Yes. Why? Because it allows you to search for a single item and see the results across many search engines. Good way to compare results. Nice layout too.

Twingine:
I like the name far more that I like the look of the site. Not sure anymore development is being done on this website. Worth a quick look and then move on to Myriad if you are looking for multiple search engine results.

A9:
The results are fast and the images results on the left side is kinda cool. Its the maps on A9 that makes this search engine very, very powerful. The maps, for some cities, allows you to see 'blockview images' where you see actuall images of what the streets and building look like as if you were standing on the street.

Mamma Meta Search:
I like this search engine for one feature not seen on any other search engine (at least what I can find) and that is you can email yourself the search results. That in itself keeps me coming back.

PreviewSeek:
Provides a structured view of the results to make drilling down easier. They also have this preview feature which lets you view the site without ever leaving the results. This search engine is still in beta so we'll see what happens over time.

Hakia:
From the site "Hakia is building the Web's first "meaning-based" search engine, one that will bring answers and meaningful results to questions on any topic.". Some of the questions I asked didn't yield any meaningful results but since its still in beta I will cut it some slack.

DMOZ:
This is more of a database then a search engine. The DMOZ provides there database to alot of search engines (including Google). Make sure your site is listed in the DMOZ and if its not start the process because it takes a while.

I know there are literally hundreds, maybe thousands, of search engines but these are some of the ones I use.
