I tried it and it's limited at present. Blogger intends to implement a full feature set for it in Word 12. If you're only doing text blogging, you may love it because it is super easy and streamlined. But adding photos and other links are a serious pain.
It makes me wonder why Google "doesn't do" interfaces. They start lots of good ideas, but never go back and finish them. Look no further than Gmail — a few tweaks and a keyboard shortcut for trashing an email would do wonders.

The worry for me is people seem to use Word for all the wrong reasons and this just adds one more feature inline with this.
Word is not a webpage creation tool and should never be used as such.
Use the right tool for the right job and I just can't see Word being it for this case.

You are right it's tuff to work with images with Word and Blogger but if you have images Picasa works great to send an image directly to Blogger.
